CHOLERA IN CUBA - The cholera is still carrying away
hundreds of slaves in Cuba. Its ravages have been
more fierce in the sugar estates of the district of
Cardenas, especially in Banaguises, where nearly all of
the largest and most flourishing estates are located.
One planter has lost 140 slaves, and several others, it
is said, have suffered to a still greater extent. |
