     New Haven was settled in 1638 and named August, 1640.  The records of the First Congregational Church were published in Book I.  The North Congregational Church, or the United Society, was organized May 7, 1742, as the "Church of Christ in White Haven Society."  The record follow.  In June, 1771, there was a secession from this church called the Church of Christ in the Fair Haven Society, which in November, 1796, reunited with the former organization.  The records of that society also follow.
