Mil: He was enrolled in the parish militia at age
16. On May 1770 he became 2nd Lieut. parish militia
at age 16. On May 1770 he became 2nd Lieut. of 9th Co.,
12th Regt., militia. Responded to Lexington Alarm for 22
days. Transferred to 8th Co., 2nd Regt. Militia, Jun. 1776
became Capt. of 8th Co., under John Chester. As a Lieut.
in battle of L.I. in retreat he narrowly escaped capture.
He served at White Plains, N.Y. as Capt. |
