The Connecticut soldiers' orphans' home at Mansfield has
been closed, on account of the small number of children
attending it. It was established in 1866, and has cared
for 150 children, at an expense of $55,00
An election for a member of the corporation of Yale
college, to fill the place vacated by ex-Gov. William B.
Washburn of Massachusetts, will take place, June 30, but he
is eligible for reelection and is likely to be returned. |
