ALEXANDER COUNTY, ILLINOIS
GEORGE BROWN
was born in Rowan county, North Carolina, in 1755. He enlisted
there in the fall of 1755. He enlisted there in the fall of
1776, serving two months under Capt., Montgomery and Col. Francis
Locke. He again enlisted in the summer of 1779, serving five
and one half months under Quartermaster Yarberry.
He removed to Tennessee, and from there to Union county, Illinois,
but died in Alexander county Dec. 10, 1846. He was pensioned. |
ADAM CLAPP,
served in the war from North Carolina. He came to Union
county, Illinois, in 1809, settling on Sandy Creek, which is now in
Alexander county, where he probably county in 1818. He was
pensioned. |
