Source:  Patriot (Harrisburg, PA)  Vol.: XI  Page: 1 Dated: Saturday, June 22, 1878 GREAT HANGING DAY Executions in Maryland, Ohio, Illinois and Arkansas.      CHICAGO, June 21. - A special from Paris, Illinois, says John Burns was hanged there at 1 o'clock this afternoon, for the murder of Elijah Burnwell on the 20th of October last.  Burns was reckless and hardened and met his fate with a coolness amounting to bravado.  He was pronounced dead in seven minutes.
