Amity Twp. -
ALFRED GAURLEY, farmer; P. O. Cornell;
was born in East Virginia in 1826, and came to Amity Tp. in
1865; farmed in Virginia; when he came to Amity he located
where he now resides; he owns 250 acres of land, valued at
$40 per acre; he also owns 320 acres in Kansas, valued at $3
per acre. He married Rebecca J. Farres, in West
Virginia, in 1856; she was born in West Virginia, in 1842,
they have nine children living - Sarah E., James,
Josephine, Abel, Thomas B., Edgar, Mary, Alice J., Columbus.
He is present incumbent of office of Road Commissioner, and
also has held the office of School Director.
