Suicide by Poison
Special to the Commercial Gazette
MADISON, IND., Aug. 29 - MRS. HONNAKER, nee' MISS
GEORGE ANN ELY, later the divorced wife of D. P.
LaRUE, deceased, was found dead in bed this morning,
having taken a dose of laudanum. It is thought with
suicidal intent. She was at one time a dems-mond?
of the town, but about three years ago she married
Charles alias Bum Honaker, and together
they have been carrying on the saloon business at the
extreme east end of the city near Beech Grove Driving Park.
The saloon was called the First and Last Chance, and it
seems she chose the latter, for she retired early last
night, complaining that she was not feeling very well, when
her husband remarked that perhaps she had drank too much,
when se said she would take another dose of medicine and
retire. Not thinking that she meant anything he left
her, and this morning on trying to awaken her he found her
cold in death's embrace, while near the bed lay a half empty
bottle of laudanum, which told the tale. She was aged
about thirty-seven years. |
