THE following list of Wills is reprinted, as a fitting adjunct to the Prerogative Wills, from the Fourteenth Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Record Office of Ireland.  Mr. Mills, in his introductory remarks to this Index, informs us that they were marked "Private Wills, taken from Mr. Hawkins' private office after his death."  Mr. Hawkins was Deputy Registrar of the Prerogative Court.
     In this collection, five wills bear evidence of having been proved, although not entered in the Grant Books.  Twelve appear to have been ready to be proved in the Consistorial Court.  Two were registered in the Registry of Deeds office.  Four have been ascertained to be duplicates of duly proved wills; and it is not improbable that other similar cases may be found on a more extended search.
     It is difficult to explain how these wills came to remain in Mr. Hawkins' office, but Mr. Mills' conjecture that it was due to the lodgment fees not having been paid, would appear to be correct, and applicable to most cases.
