Bails received his education in Charleston Township and then turned his attention to agricultural pursuits, in which, with the exception of two years' experience in the grocery business, he has always been engaged.  In 1897 he located upon his present farm of 112 acres, where he has made many substantial improvements, and where he raises considerable stock for sale.
On November 14, 1888, Mr. Bails was married to Della V., daughter of James Gee, of the vicinity of Indianapolis, Ind., and of this union four children have been born:  Nellie I., Lena L., William L. and Fred B.  In his political views Mr. Bails is a Democrat, being a member of the Central Committee from the Sixth Ward.  He has been School Director, and is one of the directors of the Farmington Citizens' Mutual Telephone Company.
