Dies as Result of Stroke of Paralysis Suffered in 1912

Decedent Born in Indiana, But was Early Resident of This
County and Then Went to Marshalltown, Ia.
LONG - Died, at 8:30
o'clock Friday morning, Dec. 25, 1914, at the home of
his son, William H. Long, 101 West Cook street,
of a stroke of paralysis suffered October, 1812,
William Long, aged 73 years.
The remains will be sent tomorrow to Marshalltown, Ia.,
where the decedent had lived since November, 1872, and
interment will be made Monday.
Mr. Long was born Mar. 2, 1841, in Bedford, Ind.
A year later his parents moved to Sangamon county and it
was in this vicinity that the decedent grew until ten
yeas of age when the family moved westward to
Marshalltown, Ia., where the greater part of his life
since then had been passed. Since September he had
lived with his son in this city.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Catherine Long,
a son Dr. J. Schupler Long, Council Bluffs, Ia.;
two daughters, Mrs. Elvation W. Elder, Pasadena,
Calif., Mrs. Robert Henderson, Des Moines, Ia., a
son, William H. Long, of this city, and a sister,
Mrs. C. V. Dean of Durham, Mo.

BUCKLES - Died at 7 o'clock Friday morning, Dec.
25, 1914, at the home of her son, Jacob Buckles,
near Edinburg, Mrs. Susannah Gruber Buckles,
aged 91 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this
afternoon at Buckhart Methodist Episcopal church,
Rev. Mr. Sauerwine of the Reformed German church of
Edinburg officiating. Interment will be made in
Oak Hill cemetery near Buckhart.
Mrs. Buckles was born Aug. 12, 1823, in
Jefferson county, Virginia, and was married on Feb. 18,
1845, to Robert Buckles. She lived in
Virginia until 18i55, when she moved to this state.
Since she was 16 years old she had been a member of the
Reformed German church.
Her first husband died June 2, 1856, and on Mar. 21,
1858, she was married to his brother, Ephriam
Buckles.
To the first marriage six children were born -
Lewis Cass, Martha Elizabeth, Randolph Nelson, Aaron Dow
and Robert Lovington Buckles. All preceded
her in death except Robert. To the
second union four children were born - Mann P., Annie
E., William B. and Jacob G., the last two of
whom survive her. She also leaves eighteen
grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; one
brother, Josiah Gruber, of West Virginia, and one
sister, Rebeccah Doltz, of West Virginia.

LAWSON - Died at St. John's hospital at 5:40
o'clock Friday afternoon, Dec. 25, 1914, Mrs. Jennie
Lawson, wife of Myrton Lawson of Gen Carbon,
aged 25 years and 11 months.
The remains were taken to the undertaking establishment
of McCabe & Company, 214 South Seventh street,
and will be taken this morning to the residence of her
mother, Mrs. Taylor, 1036 South Spring street.
AT 3:30 o'clock this afternoon the remains will be taken
to Bingham, Illinois, where the funeral services will be
held and the interment made Sunday.
The decedent is survived by her husband, Myrton
Lawson, her mother, Mrs. Taylor, two
brothers, G. S. and A. N. Taylor of this city,
and one sister, Mrs. Harrison of Vera,
Illinois. The decedent was born at Coffen, January
28, 1889.

SCOTT - The funeral of Mrs. Jennie Brown Scott,
who died Thursday at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Matthew Scott, 509 North Grand avenue, west,
will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the
residence and at 3:30 o'clock at Elliott Avenue Baptist
church, Rev. H. H. Ford, pastor of the church,
officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Decedent before her marriage was Miss Jennie Brown.
She was born in Oklahoma, Indian Territory, Sept. 5,
1892, and came to this city with her parents fifteen
years ago. She was a popular young lady and had a
large circle of friends and relatives who mourn her
death.
She was employed at the Illinois Watch factory, where
she was held in high esteem. She was a member of
the Elliott Avenue Baptist church and was enthusiastic
in the promotion of the church work.

M'CLOUD - Funeral services for Moses McCloud,
who died Thursday morning at the family residence, 1520
East Mason street, will be held at 1:30 o'clock this
afternoon at the residence and at 2 o'clock at St.
Paul's A. M. E. church, Rev. N. J. McCacken
officiating. The funeral will be in charge of
Central lodge No. 3, A. F. and A. M., of which decedent
was a member. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge
cemetery.

YOUNT - Funeral services for Miss Norine Yount,
who died Thursday morning at the home of her uncle,
J. A. Ellinger, 1000 North Walnut street, will be
held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Elliott Avenue
Baptist church, Rev. Mr. Ford, the pastor,
officiating. The remains may be views at the
residence until 11 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.

PENNINGTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie
Pennington, who died in Denver, Colo., will be held
today at the residence of her mother, Mrs. M. B.
Clark, 929 South Ninth street, Rev. W. L. Turney
officiating, and at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow final services
will be held in the Methodist Episcopal church at White
Hall. Interment will be made in White Hall.

FETZER - The funeral services for Frederick
Fetzer, who died at the family residence, 611 West
Monroe street, Thursday night, will be held at 2 o'clock
tomorrow afternoon at the residence and at 2:30 o'clock
at Trinity Lutheran church. Rev. Frederick
Brand will officiate and the interment will be made
in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

CARPENTER - Funeral services for Mrs. John
Carpenter, aged 81 years, who died Wednesday night
at her home in Buffalo, will be held at 10:30 o'clock
this morning at the family residence in Buffalo.
Rev. G. V. Metzel of Mechanicsburg officiating.
Interment will be made in Mechanicsburg cemetery.

HILL - The remains of Thomas Hill of North
Third street, who died at St. John's hospital of
injuries received when he fell from a B. & O railroad
engine, will be forwarded to Pawnee today. Funeral
services will be held this morning at the Methodist
Episcopal church, Rev. Mr. Sanders officiating.
Interment will be made at Pawnee.

GRADY - Funeral services for Arthur Grady,
who died at St. John's hospital of a broken neck
received some time ago when he fell down the cellarway
at the Nelson building, have not been made. No
relatives have as yet been located and the burial
probably will be done by the county.

HOUCHENS - Definite funeral arrangements for
Mrs. Serena Organ Houchens, who died suddenly
Thursday at the home of her niece, Mrs. William
Ramsey, of Auburn, have not been announced by the
members of the family. The remains will be
brought to this city and interment made in Oak Ridge
Cemetery.

LEWARTTO - The funeral for Joe Lenartto
will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the
residence, 914 East Miller street and at 2:30 o'clock
tomorrow afternoon from the residence, 914 East Miller
street and at 2:30 o'clock from St. Vincent De Paul
Church. The interment will be made in Calvary
cemetery.

CAMPO - Funeral services for Rosa, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Campo of 1105
East Carpenter street, who died Thursday morning, were
held at the residence at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.

RUSH - Funeral services for Edward L. Rush
of Chicago will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon
at the undertaking establishment of C. T. Bisch &
Son. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

ZAMPINO - Funeral services for B. B. Zampino,
who was killed Thursday afternoon while working in the
new Klondike shaft, when a rock fell on him, will be
announced later, on the arrival of decedent's brother
from Pennsylvania.

CIROTTI - Funeral services for Sam Cirotti,
who killed himself, will be held probably today by the
Dawson local of United Mine Workers

MYERS - Funeral services for Daniel Myers,
who killed himself have not been arranged. They
will be announced later.
