YOUNG, C. R.,
carpenter and joiner, P. O. Monica, was born in Mount
Desert, Me., n 1824; came to Peoria county in 1843, and
married Miss Ocena Hull, in September, 1849, who was
born in Cataraugus county, N. Y., in 1832, by whom he has
had four children, three are now living: Nathan,
Charles H. and William H., Isaac, his
eldest, died July 1, 1866, and Mrs. Young died Aug.
31, 1876. Mr. Young carried on the carpenter
business at Rochester, until 1876; came to Monica the year
following, and has since carried on there a large and
steadily increasing business. He was present at the
organization of Millbrook township; was the first town
clerk, and held the office three years; served as justice of
the peace for four years, and was postmaster at Elmore,
under President Pierce's administration.
