  EDMUND GARLAND.  Of this alumnus of Dartmouth, the writer only knows that he was the third son of Dea. Samuel Garland, one of the strong and stable pillars of the town in the olden time, and that, after his college and seminary course, he entered the ministry of the Congregational church, and during most of his long life, exercised his sacred calling with zeal and efficiency in the State of Ohio.  At the time of his death, which occurred in the near past, he must have been upwards of four score.
