The Statesman
learns that William McIntyre, a life convict in
the penitentiary, on last Saturday received his pardon after
having served six years of his term. He was convicted
and sentenced to imprisonment for life for killing
Marshal Keeler, of the Dalles, some time in 1867.
He was twenty-one years of age at the time of his
imprisonment, and we understand that the pardon notices this
as an extenuating fact in his favor, and also states that
there is reason to believe that he committed the act in
self-defense. He has many friends, and for the reason
that his conduct in the prison has been most exemplary, they
have exerted themselves to secure his pardon.Page 3 -
