This pleasant little town is
located on the southwest corner of Coffin's Grove Township,
was laid out July 22, 1858, by Francis Daniels and
the Iowa Land Company, James G. Verplank, Surveyor.

The first school house in town was built in 1862,
by Mr. Dunton, and afterward purchased by the
township. The first teacher was Miss Mary R.
Williams.
